Faceless Dolls Are The Norm
Amish dolls and toys don’t come complete with faces of their own. This is supposedly a deterrent against pride and vanity; Amish people strongly believe that everyone is equal in the eyes of God.
A doll without an identity, then, is supposed to be a symbol of that equality.
