Jakob Ammann, Religious Founder
Jakob Ammann is responsible for founding the Amish interpretation of the Bible. He was a Swiss Anabaptist member of the Mennonite church and began making waves in the church by pushing for a very literal interpretation of holy scripture. His followers became known as Amish people and, really, the rest is history.
