Greens powders are shared on social media, which is why fitness influencers and celebrities promote them. Many popular brands offer powdered green mixes you can easily mix with water to make a beverage that helps you meet your daily Vitamin D needs while also consuming powerful superfoods.

The FDA Doesn’t Regulate Most Of These Powders

While makers of green powders claim all kinds of eye-catching benefits, most of these powders are not regulated by the FDA, meaning they have not been subjected to a rigorous testing process to validate their claims. There is no FDA regulation of powders that claim to prevent disease or treat health conditions. It is unknown what the exact composition of the disease-preventing superfood complexes is.

There Is No Information On How Much Superfoods Are In These Mixes

There is little research on superfoods or green blends because they differ from combination to blend based on brand and manufacturing. There is no information on how much each component is in these powders since they are proprietary blends. This area contains ingredients you probably think of as healthy, and you’re right: Studies show that specific amounts of these items can be beneficial, especially spirulina and matcha.

Greens powders aren’t harmful when paired with other healthy activities, like eating a balanced diet, drinking water and exercising. The good news is that we can live longer and healthier lives by doing other things.
