John Quincy Adams
John Quincy Adams (July 11, 1767 – February 23, 1848), son of John and Abigail Adams, was America’s sixth president during 1825-29. He was an American statesman, diplomat, lawyer, and diarist. Adams served as the eighth United States secretary of state from 1817 to 1825. His father, John Adams, served as the second U.S. President from 1797 to 1801. Born in Braintree, Massachusetts, Adams spent much of his young life in Europe, where his father served as a diplomat. In 1848 he fell down on the floor of the House as a result of a stroke and was taken to the Speaker’s Chamber, where he died two days later.
