People younger than 45 without many risk factors are more likely to survive. For people with high cholesterol, here are a few strategies for managing it.

Choosing The Right Fats Is Important

This macronutrient regulates appetite, makes you feel full, absorbs vitamins, and stores energy. Consuming many foods high in saturated and trans fats may make you more likely to develop high cholesterol, so it is better to eat less—for instance, fried foods and fatty meats. Walnuts, salmon, flaxseeds, and mackerel are foods high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Reduce Sugar And Increase Fiber Intake

The most important thing is to choose more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. It is also essential to emphasize fiber in your diet if you have high cholesterol and choose healthy fats. Fibre reduces cholesterol absorption into your bloodstream, which is why it is so beneficial. For people with high cholesterol, just 5 to 10 grams of fiber a day will lead to significant improvements.

The recommendation of cholesterol-lowering drugs does not mean you should ignore them when your healthcare team recommends them. However, lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise can help delay the need for medication. Quinones-Camacho suggests talking with your doctor about what medicine might be best for you, as there are so many options now.
