What Midsize Influencers Are Doing To Change The Way We See Size And Style

There is much talk about petite and plus-size Fashion, but what about those in between? Midsized influencers can help in this regard.

What is midsize Fashion? Midsize refers to people slightly larger than society defines as ‘traditional’ but not quite into the plus size category. In recent years, the term “midsize” has boomed, particularly in light of TikTok’s body positivity efforts and Gen-Z’s emphasis on size.

How Are Size-Inclusive Fashion Influencers Gaining Popularity?

  • Approximately 16-18 is the average size for an American woman, according to the International Journal of Fashion Design, Technology, and Education.
  • Realistic fashion content is what people want from models and influencers.
  • There has been an explosion of fashion influencers on social media

Michael-Anthony Spearman remembers when he was growing up that, there was only one store for guys like him. On social media, he’s one of the fashion influencers shifting the conversation about size. Since starting @TheBigGuyFashion in 2011, Spearman has been filling the gap in the fashion world for himself – and he’s doing it well.

Creating A Body Positive Culture

Shelby Tomalin, a fashion influencer nominated for body positivity influencer of the year, started her Instagram account @shelbysaywhatblog after giving birth to her first child.

Having raised two daughters, Tomalin is emotional when she thinks about the influence she has on young people relating to confidence and body acceptance. Tomalin said, “Fashion is not about following trends, but about self-confidence. If we can feel good in our clothes, we can feel at peace with ourselves. “Fashion is much more than just a piece of clothing. It prioritizes your self-worth.”
