On May 17, Molly, a pregnant homeless mix of cattle dogs, was bitten by a rattlesnake. Fortunately, a compassionate Good Samaritan brought her to an emergency animal clinic in Phoenix. The one-year-old pup swiftly underwent anti-venom treatment at the clinic and unexpectedly entered labor, bringing three adorable puppies into the world.

Molly and her puppies were swiftly transported to the trauma hospital of the Arizona Humane Society by dedicated rescuers. Molly unexpectedly delivered two more puppies inside the pet ambulance during the journey. Upon their arrival at the hospital, the brave mother and her litter of five received thorough medical examinations and were settled into cozy “mutternity suites” provided by the organization. It was there that Molly brought two final puppies into the world. Molly and her litter of seven are thriving, and the once-stray dog is gradually building trust with her rescuers.

Dickerson said, “She has been through a lot, of course, and is pretty protective of her puppies. Although she remains somewhat cautious around people, our incredible behavior team has diligently worked with her daily. Their goal is to help her regain trust and create a sense of safety within her.”

Molly and her Minions, as her rescuers lovingly named them, will receive ongoing care at the animal hospital until they find foster homes. The AHS aims to keep mother dogs and puppies together for six weeks before gradually fostering them separately. Molly, described as an incredible mama, is expected to make a wonderful pet once her nurturing role is complete.
