Before Getting Botox, Here Are Some Things Every Woman Should Know

Many celebrities still go under the knife or needle, despite many speaking out against plastic surgery. There are many reasons to consider permanent solutions to fine lines and wrinkles.

Several surveys by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show people are willing to spend more on cosmetic procedures after the pandemic.

The FDA approved Daxxify in September, which has been reported to have longer-lasting results than similar products.

Like any elective procedure, you should research Botox before proceeding. Here’s what Botox is, what it can do, and what you should know:

Uses Of Botox

We have both static and dynamic wrinkles on our faces. Edward Lee, M.D., chief, said, “Static wrinkles are present when we have no expression, such as around the mouth or between the eyebrows.”

As a result, you won’t look like you cannot move your face after injections. Your provider should observe how your face moves before injecting.

Is Botox Effective?

A protein called botulinum toxin causes botox to freeze muscles. Dr. Engelman said, “In simple terms, Botox binds to the receptors on the muscles so that they don’t receive the signal to contract.”

Anti-Aging Benefits Of Botox

Besides treating cosmetic issues, Botox can also treat overactive bladder, eyelid spasms, and some types of muscle spasms. Additionally, it prevents migraine headaches and excessive sweating.

Researchers found that Botox injections reduced migraine headaches, so they investigated its effectiveness specifically for migraine.

How Safe Is Botox?

Medical attention should be sought immediately if symptoms like muscle weakness, double vision, urinary incontinence, difficulty breathing, or difficulty speaking occur. The FDA warns that breathing and swallowing difficulties can be life-threatening.

Dr. Engelman said, “Botox is safe and efficacious as long as you’re in the hands of someone licensed and trained.”

Can Botox Cause Side Effects Or Risks?

Minor side effects, such as bruising or swelling, are possible with any drug. Dr. Potozkin says side effects include headaches, bruising, and drooping eyelids. It is rare, but an experienced provider can minimize your risk.

When performed by an experienced clinic, Botox typically has minor side effects. Cosmetic treatments are pricey and not covered by insurance, but they are minimally painful and last up to four months.
