Calling 911
Equipped with the knowledge her mother had imparted for emergencies, Sophie dialed the only number she knew: 911. Tears welled up in her eyes as she hesitated before answering the operator’s inquiry. “My mommy has been asleep all day,” Sophie confessed, her heart pounding with anxiety as she communicated the distressing situation.
