The dogs weigh a relatively small four to seven pounds, making them perfectly manageable around the house. However, they are an amiable, social dog breed known for following their owners around the house often, earning them their nickname “velcro dog.” They are also great companions for children, strangers, and other pets at home – their friendliness extends far beyond their owner.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are one of the closest relatives of this dog. Like many lap dogs, they prefer curling up on their owners’ laps rather than playing at the park or chasing the ball. Although some people recommend brushing them twice a week at least, the English Toy Spaniel does require some maintenance. Apart from that, they don’t need much. The breed is rare, so finding one may take some time.
