What To Do When You’re Burned Out And Feeling Tired

Stress can lead to burnout if it leaves you feeling helpless, disillusioned, and completely exhausted. Get a sense of balance and regain your optimism and hope by learning what you can do to feel positive and hopeful again.

How Do You Define Burnout?

Burnout occurs when a person is physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted by prolonged or excessive stress. It happens when you feel drained, overwhelmed and incapable of meeting constant demands. Stress causes you to lose the interest and motivation you once had for taking on specific roles.

Burnout Symptoms And Signs

Somedays, we feel helpless, overloaded, or unappreciated when getting out of bed takes Herculean strength. Then you might be burned out if this is how you think most of the time.

Burnout happens gradually. It doesn’t happen overnight, but it can sneak up. The signs and symptoms are subtle at first but worsen as time passes.

How Stress Differs From Burnout

The result of unrelenting stress may be burnout, but too much pressure isn’t it. Generally, a strain involves too much: too many demands on your time and energy. Stressed people, however, can still believe they will feel better once everything is under control.

Burnout happens when there isn’t enough. Experiencing burnout means feeling exhausted, void of motivation, and uncaring. Many burnout sufferers don’t see any hope for improvement.

Make Transgressive Moves

There’s no cure for burnout with more work. It might help to pause for a moment. A pause must be more than a walk around the block/call to a friend. There has to be some sense of not being supposed to do it. Go on a long hike and share it on social media, but it shouldn’t be something you have to ace to get ahead. It’s not monolithic or oppressive but rather something you can manipulate. There is more leverage for workers after the Great Resignation.
