Wes Anderson always seems to be tinkering with some new and vibrant project of quirky characters and stunning locations. His previous pictures of The Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs have become notable and divergent pictures of finding new and odd adventures in colorful settings, despite his ensemble being fairly familiar. For his next feature, he’ll be shifting to a rustic French town for another exercise in dry comedy and endless charm.
The French Dispatch is his latest film and will focus on the publication of an American magazine within France during the 20th century. Naturally, the film boasts an all-star cast that includes the likes of Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Stephen Park, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson. Looking just as gorgeous as his previous pictures, Anderson also tinkers with the aspect ratio the same way he did in The Grand Budapest Hotel to convey a sense of time. Even the poster seems already ready to go for a special Criterion release.
