The Suicide Squad Will Not Be Delayed According To Gunn

Over the last few months, as COVID-19 seemed to take over every aspect of our day to day lives, with Hollywood starting to feel its effects as well.  This showed in the delaying of major box office premiere after premiere.  It seems no one was immune or unaffected.

That is until now.

However, there are two films that seem to be handling the coronavirus effect quite well.  So well that they are NOT planning any delays in their premieres.  Those films are Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and The Suicide Squad.

As fate seems to have it, both movies have one thing in common—their director James Gunn.  According to Gunn, The Suicide Squad is still on track to hit the big screen on August 6, 2021.  Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is also reportedly still on track, although no official date for its release has been announced as of yet.

Gunn took to his Twitter account, saying:

“Right now, there’s no reason for The Suicide Squad release date to move.”

The director went on to add:

“We are on or ahead of schedule.”

He said that the filming had wrapped, and due to the forethought of his post-production team, he was able to set up editing from the various team member’s homes during the quarantine.

He also assured fans that the plans for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 are still the same as they were before anyone even heard of the coronavirus.

This is music to Marvel fans ears, as the last two years have been a rollercoaster ride for the Guardians franchise.

After Gunn had been fired, rumors were that the script for the third installment would be totally rewritten, thusly leading many to believe that without Gunn’s influence, the characters would take on all-new personalities.

However, thankfully Gunn and Marvel patched up their differences, and he is once again at the helm of the sequel.
