Many of us tend to drink more water every good day. Drinking 3-4 liters of water increases the metabolism rate and can also alleviate heartburn and digestion.
But is it good to drink water before going to bed? Here are the pros and cons:
Pro: Drinking water before going to bed might affect your mood due to dehydration. Dehydration can have a negative impact which can be prevented by consistently drinking water during the daytime. A glass of water before bedtime could slightly reduce the effects of this dehydration.
Con: According to the “Cleveland Clinic” drinking water can cause nocturia. Nocturia is a condition that causes you to wake up during the night to urinate. It becomes more prevalent as people get older and occurs in both men and women. While it may be common for most people to wake up once at night to urinate, urinate more often may be a sign of something else happening.
The bottom line is that drinking water before bed is not unhealthy, but staying hydrated throughout the day. If you want to drink water before hopping into bed, do it, but waking up in the middle of the night to urinate gives you visions of a stormy night’s sleep.
Even the slightest disturbance during the night can stop you from sleeping for hours and unintentionally lead to sleep deprivation and there might be a lot of side effects you might get.
It is essential to drink water throughout the day, but the best time to drink water is in the early morning as soon as you get up.
