Ruby Rose To Play Batwoman on TV

As the CW’s league of DC Comics superheroes continues to grow, the so-called Arrowverse will soon be adding a member of the Bat-family to the franchise. And she’s being played by a rather notable movie talent. Ruby Rose, a supporting female action icon from the likes of “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” and “John Wick: Chapter 2,” will be slipping into the black suit and red hair of Batwoman, aka Kate Kane, in her own solo series this fall.

The CW has already backed plenty of superhero TV series of “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” All of these series have crossed over at some point in their runs and the new “Batwoman” series will be no different. Her big premiere will be in a crossover event this December where she’ll cross paths with Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl.

Read the official logline below:

“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Though this latest addition does open the door further on the DC television universe, there don’t appear to be any major plans to include Batman in the series at this time. But you never know, considering that Superman did eventually find his way into “Supergirl.” The casting is at least a great call considering Rose openly being gay, as is the character of Kate Kane, and easily being able to adopt an action-star attitude.
