Renee’s boyfriend Ant Anstead, who stars on HGTV, posts regularly on his Instagram page, sometimes with Renee Zellweger.
She explains, “I don’t look at my phone sometimes until 6 p.m.
What did she do at home during the pandemic if she wasn’t on her phone all the time?
Renee said, “I was outside every day, building and planting things. Nature does what it does, and you know the squirrels, and I was at war. Like, why do you have to dig that big hole there?”
She added, “I am out there every day with my shovel and bucket. Then I am outside tinkering because you get quiet and creative. Busyness is the enemy of creativity.”
Renee previously spoke openly about taking a break from Hollywood between 2010 and 2016.
Speaking to ‘PEOPLE’ about the hiatus, Renee explained that she “realized how much I enjoyed being creative privately.”
New York Magazine reports that Renee prioritized her mental health when deciding to break away from acting.
She said, “I wasn’t healthy calling the break crucial. I wasn’t taking care of myself. I was the last thing on my list of priorities.”
Renee said she was inspired to try therapy for the first time following that realization. During that time, her therapist helped her manage the emotions she was feeling.

Renee added, “I had a good five-year period when I was joyful and in a new chapter that no one was even aware of. Six years was important, and it is a quieter life, and I loved it.”
