Valentine’s Day is near, and red velvet flavor is everywhere. Red velvet also happens to be a great flavor for a bunch of different types of desserts. One of the more aesthetically pleasing desserts is a crinkle cookie.
Here are the ingredients that you need to compile to make this recipe:
- 1 box red velvet cake mix (like Duncan Hines)
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for rolling the cookies
- Heart shaped cookie cutter optional

Here are the instructions that you need to follow to complete this recipe:
-
First, you need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat and set it aside for later.
- In a small bowl, add the powdered sugar for rolling. Set it aside for use later.
-
In a large bowl, combine all of the cake mix and the flour. Now you need to whisk the entire mixture until all of the clumps have disappeared. In the large bowl of a stand mixer, you need to fully mix together the cake mix and flour mixture, all of the eggs, oil and vanilla extract. Mix and combine the ingredients until the texture is completely smooth.
-
Using spoon or a cookie scoop, take out about 1 tablespoon of cookie dough from the mixture and form into a ball. Roll the ball in powdered sugar until fully coated. Place the sugar coated cookie dough balls on the prepared baking sheet. Place the baking sheets in the oven and bake them for 10 minutes, or until edges are set and cookies begin to show cracks.
-
Let the cookies sit on baking sheet for 2 minutes. If desired, cut cookies into heart shapes, using a heart shaped cookie cutter while they are still warm. Transfer cookies to a wire cooling rack and cool completely.
-
Enjoy!
