We all know that COVID-19 has created a harmful impact on our lives and has affected us globally. Everyone has to follow the rules and regulations like wearing a mask and sanitizing your hands constantly.
Covid rules are to be followed compulsorily in hotels, malls, theatres, and schools. The relief for all of us is that vaccines are available, and many have already taken them. The vaccination was available for all age groups, but there was a concern for the children between 5-12 years.
Pfizer-BioNTech announced that its vaccine is safe and effective for young kids. The good news is that the FDA has approved Pfizer for children between 5-12 years. It is a great sigh of relief for all the parents of this particular age group.
According to the New York Times, the countries with the lowest adult vaccination rates recorded the highest number of cases, with almost 30,000 children hospitalized due to COVID-19 in August.
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla says, “we are eager to extend the protection afforded by the vaccine to this younger population.”
Doses to children were one-third the size of adult doses, given in two doses spaced at three weeks. There were few similar side effects in young children as in young adults. The FDA was under pressure to authorize vaccines for kids.
It had approved the Pfizer vaccine for kids 12 to 15 in May 2021, two months after the drug company submitted trial results to the agency. Pfizer also states that vaccines will be available for age groups below five years once we get the results later this year.
