Although the MCU has only recently entered into its fourth phase, many are already taken to comparing the fourth phase to the fifth phase. Comparing one phase to another is hardly anything new, as the first phase was compared to the second, the second to the third, etc.
It seemed that when the MCU was in one phase, fans were already casting their thoughts ahead to the next phase, thinking how much bigger and bolder it would be, which is what generally happened, as the MCU had a for of progression from one movie and one phase to another.
With this in mind, it should come as no surprise to think that phase five will be better and that it would blow phase four out of the water—to speak. With each new phase came better technology and the introduction of yet more characters based in the MCU. Marvel Studios has never made any secret that they have carefully planned and orchestrated each phase of their cinematic universe.
At the same time, the studio chose not to rush things. From the first entry into the franchise back in the early 2000s, with Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, the decision was to take the advancement and growth as a somewhat slow pass. They introduced each character in their own time, until they had built up an arsenal of storylines that will never be matched by any other franchise in the business.
With all of that said, there is no secret that the fourth phase is having a rather rocky start. But, there are only a handful of films based within the phase that has been released as of yet, with many more to come and be enjoyed.
The takeaway here is that fans should not put the cart before the horse. Enjoy the films of the present, and stop looking ahead to the future. The phase will move along at the pace it needs, and fans will enjoy every minute of the ride.
