Jeff Bridges has aged gracefully as an actor, having been such a warm personality that the Golden Globes awarded him the Cecil B DeMille award. He has been known for many roles over the course of four decades, from the plucky hacker Flynn of 1982’s “TRON” to an aged secret organization boss in 2017’s “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.” Of course, the one role he may be most prolific for is the iconic man known as The Dude from the Coen Brother’s “The Big Lebowski.” With an attire as easygoing as his spirit, he was known for wandering around looking for his stolen and piss-stained rug, maybe having a White Russian somewhere in between.
Bridges played that fascinating character in 1998 and hasn’t returned to him since. Well, until now. In a huge surprise on Twitter, Bridges dropped a tweet stating “Can’t be living in the past, man. Stay tuned.” Linked to the tweet is a very short video of him donning the mode of dress once more with the notable music behind him. Cut to a tumbleweed blowing past with the date 2/3/19.

Upon seeing this video initially leaves one with a lot of glee that there may be a sequel coming soon. And while we’re not ruling that possibility out, the date of 2/3/19 is Super Bowl Sunday. So at the very least, we’ll be getting a commercial using characters from “The Big Lebowski.” At best, we’ll probably get the announcement of a new movie or special that continues the story of the dude.
We’ll just have to wait until the Super Bowl to see what new project has made the Dude once more abide.
