That’s right, the planets have aligned and all is in place for the return of America’s favorite slackers—Jay & Silent Bob. The last time we saw the intrepid weed loving duo was in 2001’s Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.
Now, seventeen long and agonizing years later, Kevin Smith—Silent Bob himself—went back on his until now held fast pledge that Jay and Bob would not return. Guess the cosmos had something else in mind.

Smith had two other movies in the pipeline at one time, Clerks III and Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie. Both of those were dropped for his chance to direct Cop Out, which in turn ended up being a not so great experience, mainly due to his butting heads with Bruce Willis.
Then, in the past year, Smith suffered what could have been a life-threatening massive heart attack. During his recuperation time, he has enjoyed repeated viewings of Infinity War and is working on the new Jay & Silent Bob movie—although he does admit he would prefer to do Clerks III instead.
Smith has been forthcoming on the fact that the reboot of Jay & Silent Bob will not be a reboot in the sense of a reboot. It will be more of a movie that in fact makes fun of sequels, reboots, and remakes while at the same time not realizing it is actually all three itself.

Fans should not hope to expect any appearances by Ben Affleck, and now that Smith has been through a harrowing life-changing health event, the fat jokes are out as well.
So, you may ask, what is left? A lot!! Jay & Silent Bob are characters that are unlike any other, and that is why they resonate with their cult fan following. With Smith at the helm, fans can rest assured that the duo will get their just desserts—while staying true to their awesome selves.
