Quite a while before the release of the film Logan, star Hugh Jackman had announced that it would be his last foray strapping on the iconic claws. Even though the actor himself has repeatedly stated his retirement from the role, rumors still seem to be making the rounds on a somewhat regular basis to the contrary.
However, the rumors continued, especially after the catalyst of Disney purchasing Fox. In various interviews, Jackman did admit that he loved the idea of having the opportunity to portray Wolverine within the MCU and going up against members of the Avengers. His comments, it should be noted, were always in the past tense at best.
With all of this said, there are still those regularly circulated tales that have him supposedly lined up to appear in a variety of cameo appearances and supporting roles in various upcoming projects.

In a recent interview, touching on his latest sci-fi role in Reminiscence, Jackman was posed with the question of a possible Wolverine comeback. In proper Jackman form, he shut down the idea very politely:
“It’s in my past, man. Don’t tell anyone, alright? Let me just say one more thing. Because, as I said that, there’s not a day that goes by where I’m not unbelievably grateful for having been part of that MCU universe.”
The actor went on to say:
“So, I don’t ever want people to feel that when I say I’m done, it’s a glib answer. It was one of the great chapters of my life.”
Wolverine was a fan-loved, iconic character, and as such, it is expected that Jackman will be answering questions about the role for the rest of his life. With that said, fans need to realize that we will not be seeing Jackman portraying Wolverine again—and move on as Jackman has.
