With all of the advancements in technology and medical science, people are living longer and healthier lives. Some people even live long enough to earn the title of “centenarian,” which means they have been living more than an entire century! It is quite the accomplishment, and one senior decided to share her secrets on living a long, prosperous life far past 100 years old.
Jessie Gallan from Scotland knows a thing or two about longevity. Gallan was born in tiny farm cottage that only had two rooms, and she shared her space with five sisters and one brother. Her small beginnings have not prevented her from living an eventful existence, and she is just getting started.
Gallan is 109 years old, and she contributes her impressive age to her two life mottos. She claims that living by these two things have allowed her to simply thrive.
Gallan insists that staying away from men and getting her fair share of porridge every day has allowed her to live to her impressive age. She has never been married and claims that men are “more trouble than they’re worth.” She never misses her warm bowl of porridge every single morning, and she makes sure to get her body moving with some exercise.
This lively senior may be on to something here.
Gallan’s longevity secrets seem to be in direct correlation with maintaining a good diet, getting the recommended amount of exercise, and keeping stress levels to a minimum. Unhealthy relationships can take a toll on one’s mental health. Learning to love yourself first is crucial to your mental and emotional wellbeing!
Maintaining meaningful relationships with friends and family is also crucial to a healthy, long life — with or without a romantic relationship.
Here’s to many more years of being an independent, inspirational centenarian. Keep smiling, Jessie!
