Peppermint patties are a sugary, chocolatey candy, which are easy to make. Also, you can really flavor these patties with anything from peppermint to lemon to coconut to peanut butter and beyond.
Here are the ingredients that you will need in order to make homemade patties:
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk (corn syrup will do, too)
- 2 tsp extract of your choice (you can choose any extract that you want to use)
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate
- 2 teaspoons oil
- Sprinkles, cocoa powder, mints, crushed or pulverized fun stuff.

Here are the instructions to making these patties:
First, combine the butter, corn syrup and extract in a large bowl and mix everything together until it’s smooth. Then, add the powdered sugar and salt, continuously mixing until everything is combined and smooth. Taste the batter and add more extract but only if it’s really needed.
Next, divide the dough into 2 tablespoon-sized balls. Each ball will be one patty. You can use a cookie scoop or a small spoon and roll them into balls with your hands. Once they are rolled into a ball, you can simply flatten them with the palm of your hand.
Next, transfer all of the patties onto a clean pan or plate and then pop them in the freezer for 10 minutes until super cold. While the patties are in the freezer, melt the chocolate and oil gently in the microwave until smooth.
Finally, remove the patties from the freezer and using a fork or gloved hands, coat each patty in the chocolate. Make sure you coat both sides of each patty completely. Also, you want to work a bit fast so the chocolate does not harden.
Then transfer the chocolate-coated patties to a parchment/wax/aluminum lined pan to cool. Leave them as is or top with fun things that tell the flavor story of your patty.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month, but try to be careful to keep the different flavors apart!
