HBO has announced plans to run a month-long celebration to mark the 10th anniversary of the worldwide hit series The Game of Thrones fantasy series original debut.
Being referred to as the “Iron Anniversary,” the binge celebration will be including a library of up to 150 videos which HBO will be adding to and offering on their US streaming service over at HBO Max.
The additional videos will include such programming as cast interviews, looks behind the scenes of the making of the series, and various other clips and episode trailers.
With this celebration are plans for a launch of a new Game of Thrones line of merchandise. Some of the new items are said to be including a range of Mikkeller beers as well as a new set of Funko Pop figures. There will even be a Faberge bespoke egg that is rumored to be worth $1.6 million.
HBO’s sister site, HBO2, will be offering an airing a Game of Thrones marathon, where each and every episode starting from the premiere episode will be re-aired. This re-airing will begin on April 10th.
As fans know, the Game of Throne series aired its eighth and final season’s finale back in May 2019. Since the series end, there have been announcements of three spinoffs of the series in the pipeline, the first o which was confirmed to be 9 Voyages.
There was also the recent announcement and confirmation that, with author George RR Martin’s participation, the franchise will soon be adding a stage play to its list of endeavors.
George RR Martin, the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, on which the Game of Thrones series was based, is collaborating with the playwright Duncan MacMillian. The stage play is billed as being set in the 16 years in Westeros before the tv series events began.
