Dr. Cara Pensabene, MD, says, “Although summer outdoor workouts are fun, they can easily lead to heat-related issues if you’re not careful.”

Humidity Is A Threat

Pensabene believes humidity is a more significant problem than temperature.

She says, “That’s because high humidity prevents your sweat from evaporating. You can overheat your internal organs if the air around you is not cool or sweat does not evaporate.

Pensabene suggests avoiding exercise outdoors in high temperatures or with high humidity.

Remain Hydrated And Cool

You sweat more when it’s hot outside. Staying hydrated is therefore critical. Keep a water bottle nearby.

Dr. Janette Nesheiwat says, ”Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can occur while outside on hot days. Therefore, it is important to stay hydrated and stay cool.”

Alissa Tucker, a master trainer, adds, “Staying hydrated doesn’t just mean drinking water during your workout. During an activity, feeling thirsty may indicate dehydration.”

Work Out In A Safe Place

Tucker notes that the type of exercise you do outdoors and the surface you’re working out on are essential.

It’s essential to listen to your body when you do cardio outdoors. Wearing supportive shoes, stretching, and myofascial release into workout recovery are imperative.

It is essential to cool down after an intense workout in the heat. Consider taking a swim if you have access to a lake or pool.

He says, “It is not only great for body temperature, but also muscle recovery.”
