Doctor Who’s Daleks Getting an Animated Spin-Off

Since the very inception of the sci-fi series Doctor Who in 1963, the Daleks have been the longest-running and most consistent villains of the show. The mechanical creatures wheeled around sets with their protruding eyepiece, a plunger, a laser weapon, and a loud, shrieking voice that made it clear the Daleks want to “EXTERMINATE” all life. They hailed from the planet Skarro and were revealed to be hideous mutants that required a metal casing to survive. Their politics and intent to wipe out all life in a universal-genocide have made them the most fascinating villain for the Doctor to encounter. They’ve also been the most popular, occupying a lot of the Who merchandise and even appearing in the movie Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

Though the Daleks have appeared in numerous episodes and even a Doctor Who movie, they’re now getting their own dedicated animated program. Don’t get too excited though. The series is a part of the multi-platform Time Lord Victorious story will only be a series of five episodes that run 10-minutes each. It’ll debut on the Doctor Who YouTube Channel this November. The show has been created by Studio Liddell and written by James Goss.
