Gladys Knight – $28 Million

Although Michael Jackson is the King of Pop and James Brown is the Godfather of Soul, these titles bear little resemblance to Gladys Knight. She is hailed as the Empress of Soul by her fans. She charted at the top for three decades (the 1960s – 80s). When you consider her legacy, it’s easy to see why.

Knight has also won seven Grammy Awards for her work. Gladys had tremendous singles with The Pips, including ‘Midnight Train to Georgia,’ ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine,’ and ‘Neither One of Us.’ She composed the theme song for the James Bond film Licence to Kill in 1989.
