A woman with Imgur username ‘imnotyellingimjustfromjersey’ illustrates that a frumpy thrift store dress can be made into a pretty solid fashion statement. All it takes is a little time and some creativity to transform a thrift store dress from drab to quite fab.
Here is one of her thrift store dress transformations. She removed the frilly sleeves and cut the length of the skirt to make it an adorable summer dress. She calls it “thrift store refashion,” and it’s pretty amazing what you can do with a funky thrift store find. Once ‘imnotyellingimjustfromjersey’ found this blue polyester dress, she knew she had to update it, and the transformation is pretty drastic!

First, she removed the long, bulky sleeves and bulbous shoulder pads. The dress already looks decades younger with this small update!

Next, she had to bring the side seams in about two inches so the dress wasn’t so loose and unflattering on her figure. She pinned in the sides and used her sewing machine to get the job done.
