For a couple years now, fans have speculated and wondered why Hawkeye was missing from the group of Avengers that were forced to take on Thanos. Rumors flew of one scenario to another, but in the end, the answer was pretty simple.
Much like Scott Lane (Ant-Man), Clint Barton (Hawkeye) was also on house arrest. Seems that Lane was not the only one arrested, and given a plea bargain in exchange for his punishment after the events that transpired in Captain America: Civil War.
However, fear not, as Hawkeye will be front and center in the next Avengers movie as they continue their battle with Thanos. But the question remains, just how big or important a role will Hawkeye play in that battle? Rumors and speculation as to why he sat the first one out were pretty off. So, it is pretty safe to assume that the rumors and speculation as to his involvement in the next installment may be just as far off, if not even more so.
At recent con appearance, Jeremy Renner who portrays Hawkeye, being the consummate veteran of the Avengers movies, would not answer any questions requesting details about the next movie. However, he did get the crowd a little more than hyped by revealing that some really exciting things will be coming from the movie, and pretty soon. Although he himself was not in the previous Avengers: Infinity War, that did not stop Renner from participating in all the excitement before and during the movie’s release.
It is probably a good thing that Renner has been confirmed to be reprising his role in the next movie, as it did not end up boding well for the Russo brothers, due to his absence in the last one. Some fans were so upset, they reportedly sent death threats to the Russo’s because they had not included the fan favorite Avengers resident marksman.
President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, stated that he thought leaving Hawkeye out of Infinity War could actually be the best thing that could have happened with the character because it will just aid in making it all that much enjoyable and exciting when he does indeed show up in the next installment.
