You can’t always depend on the kindness of strangers, but it’s sure nice when it comes along, as Tegan Langley recently found out.
Langley was sitting in her car in a parking lot in Pimpana, Australia waiting for an appointment when a stranger approached her window, accompanied by his new sons. The man said his name was Tony and asked Langley about the state of her car’s worn out tires.
Langley told Tony that she knew she needed new tires but couldn’t afford them. But Tony wouldn’t accept that as her response.
“This complete stranger – Tony – explained he couldn’t live with himself if he walked away from the situation knowing they were about to blow at anytime,” recalls Langley.
Tony asked Langley to accompany him to a nearby tire store. Once there, he paid over $500 to make sure Langley had new tires that wouldn’t make her car dangerous to drive.
“$535 dollars, a lot of tears on my behalf, a few hugs, three brand new tyres, a wheel alignment later and the offer to fuel up my car he left,” shares Langley.
She adds that Tony left without giving her his last name or any contact information. He only asked that she “pay it forward” if she’s ever in a position that allows her to help someone.
Unable to reach Tony personally to find a way to thank him, Langley wrote a Facebook post sharing the story. The post has since gone viral, being shared nearly 12,000 times and receiving more than 32,000 likes.
“Tony if this ever reaches you, thank you!” Langley wrote. “Thank you for your utterly selfless act, your kind words, for restoring my faith in humanity. From the bottom of my heart thank you!”
